Bangladesh has reiterated its commitment to providing ongoing humanitarian assistance to Myanmar, including the deployment of rescue teams, in response to the recent disaster.

"We remain ready to extend further humanitarian support. Our ships are prepared and waiting," stated Professor Muhammad Yunus, Chief Adviser of Bangladesh. He made this assurance during a meeting with Myanmar's Prime Minister and Chairman of the State Administration Council, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, on the sidelines of the sixth BIMSTEC Summit in Bangkok, Thailand, on Friday.

Prof. Yunus expressed heartfelt condolences to the people of Myanmar in the wake of the tragic earthquake that struck the country on March 28, resulting in significant loss of life. His message was conveyed by the Chief Adviser's Deputy Press Secretary, Abul Kalam Azad Majumder.

During the meeting, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing congratulated Prof. Yunus on Bangladesh's assumption of the BIMSTEC chairmanship and expressed hope that the regional organization would experience a renewed sense of dynamism under Bangladesh's leadership.

The discussion highlighted the strong humanitarian ties between the two nations, underscoring Bangladesh’s readiness to continue supporting Myanmar in its time of need.
