Bangladesh, Russia Discuss Strengthening Military Ties

Russian Deputy Defence Minister Colonel General Alexander Fomin and Bangladesh’s Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman recently met in Moscow to discuss the potential for enhanced military cooperation, according to a statement from the Russian Defence Ministry.

The meeting, which took place on April 7, was part of General Waker-Uz-Zaman's official visit to the Russian Federation. The Russian Embassy in Dhaka confirmed the discussions through an official statement.

During the meeting, both sides explored avenues for deeper collaboration in the defence sector, emphasizing their shared commitment to strengthening the already warm and friendly ties between the armies and peoples of Russia and Bangladesh.

The Russian Defence Ministry described the meeting as constructive and cordial, with both parties reaffirming their mutual intent to further bolster military cooperation.

The visit is seen as a significant step in enhancing bilateral defence relations between the two nations.
