The Bangladesh Embassy in Tokyo has officially launched its e-passport service, marking a significant milestone for Bangladeshi expatriates living in Japan.

The inauguration ceremony was held at the embassy's hall room, with Principal Secretary to the Chief Adviser, M Siraz Uddin Miah, attending as the chief guest.

In his remarks, Miah stated that the introduction of the e-passport service will greatly ease travel and immigration processes for Bangladeshi citizens residing in Japan. “The government has addressed long-standing concerns of expatriates regarding delays in passport issuance across various countries,” he added.

Ambassador of Bangladesh to Japan, Daud Ali, expressed satisfaction at the launch, describing it as the fulfillment of a long-awaited demand by the Bangladeshi community in Japan.

Major Abu Bakar Muhammad Siddiqur Rahman, Assistant Project Director of the E-Passport and Automated Border Control Management Project, also spoke at the event as a special guest.

The event was attended by officials from the Department of Immigration and Passports, representatives from Biman Bangladesh Airlines, members of the Bangladeshi community in Japan, and embassy staff.

The e-passport service is expected to significantly streamline the passport renewal process and enhance the quality of consular services for Bangladeshi nationals abroad.
