Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus held a private one-on-one meeting with King Charles III at Buckingham Palace on Thursday, where they discussed Bangladesh’s ongoing reform initiatives.

Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam told reporters that the 30-minute meeting, held at 11:20 am local time, was cordial and significant. “It was the most important event of this tour,” he said.

The Chief Adviser briefed the King on the reforms underway in Bangladesh, describing the country’s ongoing transition. Alam noted that King Charles and Prof Yunus have known each other for a long time, which allowed them to discuss a range of topics in a friendly atmosphere.

Following the meeting, Prof Yunus was presented with a signed photograph of the King and Queen—a gesture of honor and recognition.

King Charles welcomed Prof Yunus for a private audience as part of his tradition of meeting individuals who have made exceptional contributions in their fields. Such meetings offer the Monarch an opportunity to learn more about key global leaders and acknowledge their work.
