The Bangladeshi passport has been ranked 94th out of 99 positions in the latest mid-year update of the Global Passport Rankings. This places Bangladesh among the lowest-tier passports in terms of travel freedom worldwide.

Compared to previous editions, the country's position has slightly declined. Earlier this year, Bangladesh was ranked 93rd. In 2024, it was placed 97th out of 104 countries, while in 2023, it held the 101st position out of 109.

According to the ranking, Bangladeshi passport holders can travel to 39 destinations without requiring a visa prior to arrival. This puts Bangladesh on equal footing with countries like Eritrea and Palestine in terms of passport strength.

The destinations that Bangladeshi passport holders can travel to without securing a visa in advance include a mix of Caribbean, African, Oceanic, and South Asian nations. These are: Bahamas, Barbados, Bhutan, Bolivia, British Virgin Islands, Burundi, Cambodia, Cape Verde Islands, Comoro Islands, Cook Islands, Djibouti, Dominica, Fiji, Grenada, Guinea-Bissau, Haiti, Jamaica, Kenya, Kiribati, Madagascar, Maldives, Micronesia, Montserrat, Mozambique, Nepal, Niue, Rwanda, Samoa, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sri Lanka, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, The Gambia, Timor-Leste, Trinidad and Tobago, Tuvalu, and Vanuatu.

The Global Passport Index measures the number of destinations a passport holder can access without a prior visa. The index analyses the visa policies of 227 travel destinations and compares them against 199 different passports.

Singapore has retained its position as the world's most powerful passport in 2025, offering its citizens visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to the highest number of countries globally.
