Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain will leave Dhaka on Sunday to attend the High-Level International Conference for the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution, taking place at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.

The two-day ministerial-level conference, scheduled for July 28–29, is being co-hosted by France and Saudi Arabia in accordance with UN General Assembly Resolution A/RES/79/81, adopted in December 2024.

During the conference, Adviser Hossain will join ministers and senior UN officials to discuss ways to revive momentum for a two-state solution, amid the escalating humanitarian and political crisis in Gaza.

According to officials at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Hossain is set to depart Dhaka on Sunday morning and return on August 1.

A senior official said Hossain is expected to reaffirm Bangladesh’s unwavering support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and advocate for the full implementation of a viable and just two-state solution.

Bangladesh will also reiterate its commitment to international law, the UN Charter, and relevant UN Security Council and General Assembly resolutions, while calling for a credible, time-bound roadmap for lasting peace in the Middle East.

The high-level gathering is viewed as a vital step toward forging global consensus on Palestinian statehood, ensuring unimpeded humanitarian access in Gaza, and addressing long-standing issues of governance and justice in the region.

Bangladesh has long championed the Palestinian cause in international forums and was among the first nations to recognise the State of Palestine following its declaration of independence in 1988.
