Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen on Tuesday reaffirmed China’s strong support for Bangladesh’s ongoing efforts to improve livelihoods and social development, emphasizing that Beijing stands in solidarity with the Bangladeshi government and people through all challenges.
The remarks came during a handover ceremony at the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS), where a batch of flood response equipment, donated by the Chinese government, was officially presented to Bangladeshi authorities. The programme was attended by Disaster Management and Relief Adviser Faruk E Azam, BDRCS Chairman Md. Azizul Islam, and other officials.
Ambassador Yao highlighted that the donation is part of China’s commitment to enhancing Bangladesh’s capacity for disaster prevention and reduction, particularly important during the ongoing rainy season. “We hope that through shared experience in modernisation and development, China and Bangladesh will continue to strengthen high-quality cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative and contribute together to building a community with a shared future for humanity,” he said.
Adviser Faruk E Azam expressed sincere gratitude for China’s generous support and praised the longstanding friendship between the two nations. He noted that the flood relief equipment will play a vital role in protecting lives and property during natural disasters, helping Bangladesh respond swiftly and effectively to emergencies.
The ceremony underscored the close bilateral ties between Bangladesh and China, highlighting mutual support, solidarity, and cooperation in social development and disaster management.
