BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman has urged the international community to pressure Israel to halt its settlement plans in the occupied West Bank.

In a Facebook post on Friday, he called on all to condemn the expansion, saying, “The International Court of Justice must not delay its verdict on the ongoing genocide in Gaza while Palestinians continue to suffer.”

Tarique highlighted Bangladeshis’ longstanding solidarity with Palestinians, writing, “Bangladeshis worldwide have always stood with our brothers and sisters in Palestine against violent oppression and continue to do so proudly.”

He described Israel’s plans to expand settlements in the West Bank as “heart-breaking,” warning that they make any future Palestinian state nearly impossible.

“The continued apartheid and attacks on the people, culture, land, and history of Palestine by Benjamin Netanyahu amount to genocide and planned ethnic cleansing,” he said.

Expressing concern for Bangladeshis living across the Middle East and Gulf, Tarique added, “I am deeply worried for their safety as the Israeli government pushes the entire region toward an abyss.”
