Thunderbolt kills three in Shariatpur

Three people were killed and another was injured as thunderbolt struck them at Zajira and Bhedarganj upazila of the district today.

The deceased were identified as Sifat Molla, hailed from Umordi Matborkandi village of Zajira upazila, Anowara Begum, an inhabitant of Mohishar village under Bhedarganj upazila and Nadim Munshi, a resident of Najimpur area in Bhedarganj upazila.

Sifat Molla was killed in a lightning strike while working in a crop's field at his village. He was taken to Zajira Upazila Health Complex where the duty doctor declared him dead, said Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Kamrul Hasan.

Anowara Begum was struck by another thunderbolt when she was bringing back her cow from the crop's field at her village. She was declared dead at Shariatpur Sadar Hospital.

Besides, Saudi expatriate Nadim Munshi was hit by a thunderbolt in Najimpur area. He was taken to Shariatpur Sadar Hospital where the duty doctor declared him dead.

A minor girl, who was injured by another thunderbolt at Kacharikandi village in Zajira upazila, was sent to Dhaka, reports BSS.
