
Three more children died with measles symptoms across Bangladesh in the past 24 hours, while 872 new infections were reported, according to the latest situation report released by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Saturday.
The DGHS said 744 children have died with suspected measles symptoms since 15 March.
During the same period, 96 children died from laboratory-confirmed measles, bringing the combined death toll from suspected and confirmed cases to 840.
The report said 121 new laboratory-confirmed measles cases were recorded over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of confirmed infections to 16,180 since 15 March.
Meanwhile, 751 new suspected cases were reported, taking the cumulative number of suspected infections to 129,061.
According to the DGHS, 111,674 patients with suspected measles have been admitted to hospitals since 15 March. Of them, 107,397 have recovered and been discharged.
