Dengue: 2 more die; 1,232 new hospitalized in 24 hours

Health officials today said they recorded 1,232 fresh cases of dengue onslaughts killing at least two persons in the past 24 hours.

“During the period, (of the 1,232) 177 patients were hospitalised in Barishal division, 194 in Chattogram division, 85 in Dhaka division, 175 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and 154 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas, 258 in Khulna division, 54 in Mymensingh division, 82 in Rajshahi division, 47 in Rangpur division and six in Sylhet division, a Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) statement said.

Since the start of the dengue onslaughts Bangladesh this year witnessed so far 178 deaths while the disease inflicted 60,379.

The dengue last year claimed 413 lives and inflicted 1,02,861 people in the country, reports BSS.

Besides, the dengue claimed 575 lives and inflicted 1,01,214 people in 2024.
