Six die of dengue, 2,158 hospitalised overnight

Health officials today said they recorded 2,158 fresh cases of dengue onslaughts killing at least six persons in the last 24 hours.


“Out of 2,158, 227 patients were hospitalised in Barishal division, 345 in Chattogram division, 356 in Dhaka division, 197 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and 311 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas, 329 in Khulna division, 132 in Mymensingh division, 176 in Rajshahi division, 73 in Rangpur division and 12 in Sylhet division, a Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) statement said.

Since the start of the dengue onslaughts, Bangladesh this year witnessed so far 225 deaths while the disease inflicted 73,694.

The dengue last year claimed 413 lives and inflicted 1,02,861 people in the country.

Besides, the dengue claimed 575 lives and inflicted 1,01,214 people in 2024, reports BSS.
