Eight die of dengue, 2,036 hospitalised overnight

Health officials today said they recorded 2,036 fresh cases of dengue onslaughts killing at least eight persons in the last 24 hours.


“Of the total, 254 patients were hospitalised in Barishal division, 323 in Chattogram division, 432 in Dhaka division, 169 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and 206 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas, 267 in Khulna division, 115 in Mymensingh division, 197 in Rajshahi division, 62 in Rangpur division and 11 in Sylhet division, a Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) statement said.

Since the start of the dengue onslaughts, Bangladesh this year witnessed so far 233 deaths while the disease inflicted 75,730.

The dengue last year claimed 413 lives and inflicted 1,02,861 people in the country.

Besides, the dengue claimed 575 lives and inflicted 1,01,214 people in 2024, reports BSS.
