Dengue Death Toll Crosses 300 in Bangladesh This Year

Bangladesh’s dengue death toll has reached 303 this year, while the total number of infections has climbed to 99,275, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Four more people died of dengue in the 24 hours until 8:00am on Sunday, while 2,193 new patients were hospitalised, the DGHS said in a press release on Sunday afternoon.

Of the newly hospitalised patients, 236 were reported in Barishal Division, 293 in Chattogram Division and 530 in Dhaka Division outside the city corporations.

Dhaka North City Corporation and Dhaka South City Corporation each reported 250 new patients.

Another 304 cases were recorded in Khulna Division, 70 in Mymensingh Division, 160 in Rajshahi Division, 84 in Rangpur Division and 16 in Sylhet Division.

According to the DGHS, a total of 99,275 dengue patients have been hospitalised across the country so far this year. Of them, 92,903 have recovered and been discharged from hospitals.
