Bangladesh’s dengue death toll has reached 400 this year after 11 more people died of the mosquito-borne disease in the 24 hours leading up to Tuesday morning, marking the highest single-day toll recorded so far this year.

A further 2,071 cases were reported during the period, taking the total number of infections to 128,237, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Of the latest deaths, six were reported in Khulna division, three in Dhaka division, and one each in Chattogram and Rajshahi divisions, the DGHS said.

Currently, 6,415 dengue patients are receiving treatment at hospitals in Dhaka and elsewhere in the country.

Since January 1, a total of 128,237 dengue patients have been admitted to hospitals nationwide. Of them, 121,422 have recovered.
