Covid claims 28 more lives in Barishal

28 more people have died of Covid-19 in Barishal division in the past 24 hours on Friday.



Barishal, Aug 6 :  As many as 28 more people have died of Covid-19 in Barishal division in the past 24 hours, officials said on Friday.

Of them, 14 were Covid-positive patients while the remaining had symptoms of the virus.

Besides, some 624 new cases were detected during the period, said divisional health director Basudeb Kumar Das.

The fresh cases have taken the division’s death tally to 528 and the caseload to 37,622.

Of the recent Covid fatalities, 16 people died at Barishal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College and Hospital while others passed away in district and upazila health complexes, said Basudeb.

Currently, 280 Covid patients are undergoing treatment at the 300-bed Sher-e-Bangla Medical College and Hospital. Meanwhile, 36 new Covid patients have been admitted to the hospital’s Covid unit in the past 24 hours, the officials said.

So far, 336 people have died of Covid-19 and 845 with symptoms at the hospital.

On the other hand, 20,489 people have recovered from Covid in the division to date, reports UNB.
