Destitute family seeks help to save child born with hole in heart

Patuakhali: The tailor Obaidullah has been treating the child Ishrat (5) who was born with a hole in the heart since birth. Obaidullah is now a helpless father who is unable to pay the child's medical expenses in 5 years. Now Ishrat's treatment is stopped due to lack of money. Hence, the destitute family appeals to the rich people of the country to save the child.

Obaidullah lives in the area adjacent to Muktijoddha Memorial Degree College of Kalapara Upazila of Patuakhali. Among the three children, the 12-year-old son is speech impaired and the younger daughter Ishrat is ill. He has to struggle to meet the family expenses. He is now almost destitute to treat his daughter.

Helpless father Obaidullah said, 'they have to struggle to meet the expenses of the family of 5 people. I sold all the relief materials and treated my daughter. Now the girl needs another 5 lakh taka for her treatment. I want everyone's help to save the girl'.

He also said that the last time I saw a doctor at Dhaka Islami Bank Hospital. The doctor says that he needs to be operated very soon. But where will I get this money now? So I want help from countrymen so that I can heal the girl.

Sheela Rani Das, deputy director of Patuakhali district social service office, said, "We will look into the matter and take action if a written application is made to the upazila office or the district commissioner for the treatment of these sick patients." - Gofran Biswas Palash
