Chandpur, Nov 25 :  Three college students were killed and two others injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in the Bishwa road area of Chandpur's Kachua upazila early on Thursday morning.

The deceased were identified as Urmi Majumder (24), Rifat Hossain (22), and Saddam Hossain (28). All the deceased were students of Cumilla Victoria College and residents of Kachua upazila.

Eye-witnesses said the accident occurred around 8am when the Dhaka-bound BRTC bus hit the Cumilla-bound auto-rickshaw coming from the opposite direction in the Bishwa road area.

The impact of the crash was such that two students travelling in the auto died on the spot while three others, including its driver, sustained injuries, police said.

The injured were rushed to Kachua Upazila Health Complex where another student was declared dead on arrival.

Mohiuddin, officer-in-charge of the Kachua police station, said both the vehicles have been seized. "A probe is on," reports UNB.
