Covid-19: 43 deaths highest in 20 weeks; 8,354 fresh cases

Dhaka, Feb 8 - Bangladesh on Tuesoday reported 8,354 Covid-19 cases and 43 coronavirus deaths overnight.

The country recorded 20.03 percent Covid-19 positive cases with 41,698 samples were tested in the past 24 hours, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said in its daily statement.

In the past 24 hours, the combined figure of coronavirus cases in Dhaka city and upazilas of the district is 4,926 and 11 Covid-19.

The official tally showed that the virus killed 28,670 people and infected 18,79,255 so far, the statement said.

The recovery count rose to 16,22,857 after another 10,800 patients were discharged from the hospitals during the past one day.

From the beginning of the pandemic, 86.36 percent Covid-19 patients recovered among the infected ones while 1.53 percent died, DGHS statistics showed.

The DGHS said among the total 28,670 fatalities so far, 12,569 occurred in Dhaka division, 5,791 in Chattogram, 2,103 in Rajshahi, 3,678 in Khulna, 963 in Barishal, 1,301 in Sylhet, 1,392 in Rangpur and 873 in Mymensingh divisions. – News Desk
