Dengue Outbreak: 3 more die; 358 new hospitalised in 24hrs

Three more deaths due to dengue were reported in the 24 hours leading up to Thursday morning, bringing the total number of fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease in Bangladesh to 91 this year.

During this period, 358 new patients were admitted to hospitals with dengue, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). Among them, 57 were admitted in hospitals under Dhaka North City Corporation and 108 in Dhaka South City Corporation.

Currently, 1,409 patients are undergoing treatment in various hospitals across the country.

Since January 1, 2024, a total of 14,686 dengue cases have been reported.

Last year, dengue claimed the lives of 1,705 people, making it the deadliest year on record. The DGHS recorded 321,179 dengue cases and 318,749 recoveries in 2023.
