Dengue claims one life, 10 hospitalised in 24hrs

Dengue claimed another life and hospitalised 10 more people across the country in the 24 hours till Saturday morning, raising the year’s death toll to 14 and total cases to 1,902, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).


The latest fatality was reported from the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), the DGHS said in its regular update.

Of the 10 new cases, five were reported from outside city corporation areas in Barishal Division, three from Dhaka North City Corporation, one from DSCC, and one from a non-city area in Khulna Division.

Currently, 62 dengue patients are receiving treatment at different hospitals across the country, reports UNB.

Last year, the country witnessed a severe dengue outbreak that resulted in 575 deaths and 101,214 reported cases. A total of 100,040 patients recovered during the period.
