53 new dengue cases reported in last 24 hrs

Fifty-three more new dengue cases were reported in the 24 hours till Sunday morning, taking the total number of cases recorded so far this year to 2,707, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Of the newly recorded cases, 33 were reported from areas outside the Barishal City Corporation, six from outside Chattogram City Corporation, four from outside Dhaka City Corporation, one from Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), seven from Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), and two from areas outside Mymensingh City Corporation.

The official death toll from the mosquito-borne disease remains unchanged at 20, as no new fatalities were reported.

Currently, 184 dengue patients are undergoing treatment at various hospitals across the country, reports UNB.

Last year, the country saw an outbreak, with 575 deaths recorded and a total of 101,214 dengue cases were reported last year, with 100,040 recoveries, according to DGHS data.
