120 more dengue cases reported in last 24hrs

One hundred and twenty more new dengue cases were reported in the 24 hours till Wednesday morning, bringing the total number of cases to 4,240 this year.


Of the newly reported cases, 20 were from areas under the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), eight under the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), and the remaining 92 from outside the capital, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Barishal Division reported the highest number with 69 cases, followed by 11 in Chattogram, five in Rajshahi, three each in Dhaka and Khulna, and one in Mymensingh Division. All the cases from these divisions were reported from areas outside the city corporation.

The number of deaths remained at 23, with no new fatalities reported during this period, the DGHS added.

Currently, 367 dengue patients are receiving treatment in hospitals across the country, reports UNB.

Last year, dengue claimed the lives of 575 people.

According to the DGHS, there were 101,214 dengue cases and 100,040 recoveries in the same year.
