Dengue: one die, 169 new hospitalised in 24hrs

One death and 169 fresh cases were reported from dengue in 24 hour till Saturday morning, raising the number of fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease in Bangladesh 29 and number of confirmed cases to 5,739 this year.


According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), in recent fatalities, one was reported in Chattogram Division (out of city corporation).

Besides, Barishal Division alone reported 101 new cases, Chattogram Division (outside city corporations) recorded 28 cases, Dhaka Division (outside city corporations) reported five, while 19 cases were detected in Dhaka South City Corporation, 16 in Dhaka North City Corporation.

Currently, 633 dengue patients are receiving treatment in hospitals across the country, reports UNB. 

Last year, dengue claimed the lives of 575 people.

According to the DGHS, there were 101,214 dengue cases and 100,040 recoveries in the same year.
