Dengue claims 3 lives: 735 hospitalised in 24 hours

Health officials today said they recorded 735 fresh cases of dengue onslaughts killing at least three persons in the past 24 hours.

“During the period, (of the 735) 116 patients were hospitalised in Barishal division, 98 in Chattogram division, 156 in Dhaka division excluding the capital, 112 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and 95 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas, 39 in Khulna division, 35 in Mymensingh division, 57 in Rajshahi division, 14 in Rangpur division and four in Sylhet division, a Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) statement said.

Meanwhile, 555 dengue patients have been discharged from hospitals across the country in the last 24 hours. 

With this, a total of 44,184 people have been discharged from hospitals this year.

Since the start of the dengue onslaughts Bangladesh this year so far witnessed 195 deaths while the disease inflicted 46,786 persons, reports BSS. 

The dengue last year claimed 575 lives and inflicted 1,01,214 people in the country.
