240 farmers in Kalapara receive materials for making Golpata jaggery



Patuakhali: In the Kalapara coastal area of Patuakhali, training and materials for making Golpata jaggery have been distributed to farmers with the aim of increasing Golpata jaggery production in a healthy way using modern technology.

On Wednesday late afternoon, 240 farmers of Chakamiya, Nilganj, Tiakhali, Mithaganj, Mahipur, Dalbuganj unions of the upazila were given materials for making Golpata jaggery. These include silver pots, pitchers, iron rods and 8 other necessary materials for burning juice.

The materials distribution ceremony organized by the Kalapara Upazila Administration and Department of Agricultural Extension was attended by Upazila Executive Officer Md. Arifuzzaman, Agriculture Officer Md. Arafat Hossain, Assistant Director of CPP Md. Asad Uzzaman Khan, Upazila Project Implementation Officer Md. Mokchedul Alam, Cooperative Officer Md. Abbas Ali, Municipal BNP President Gazi Md. Faruk etc.

Earlier on Wednesday morning, the first batch of 60 farmers were trained at the Upazila Farmers Training Center. The training of farmers was inaugurated by the Additional Director of the Department of Agricultural Extension, Barisal Region Md. Rafiqul Islam, and Dr. Ratan Kumar Ganapati, Senior Scientific Officer, BSRI, Barisal, and 6 experts were present as trainers. - Gofran Palash
