Hilsa is being caught in large numbers in the nets of fishermen. However, the prices are high. Overflowing crowd of people from different areas of the country is noticed here. People are coming to buy hilsa but they are being frustrated due to high prices.
In wholesale market, per kg hilsa is being sold from Tk 650-750. In retail market, it is being sold over Tk 1000.
On Monday, during visit to Fishery Ghat, Kattali and Anandabazar, it was seen that the markets were flooded with hilsa. Fishermen are coming with fishes after 65 days of fishing ban.
Afzal Hossain, a trader said, huge hila is coming but prices high. Per mound hilsa is being sold from Tk 25-26 thousand.
