The people in Habiganj have been suffering since Friday as long-distance bus service stopped in the city.

The people in Habiganj have been suffering since Friday (18 November) morning as long-distance bus service stopped in the city.

Transport owners and labor organisations called a strike on Saturday in the district. However, bus service has almost stopped since Friday. No buses left the district town. As a result, the passengers are suffering the most.

Suruj Mia, a passenger at Habiganj bus terminal said, many people came to their house on Friday vacation like me. But they are suffering today due to the transport strike.

BNP Central Cooperative Affairs Secretary and former Habiganj Municipality Mayor GK Gaus claimed that the strike was called here so that BNP activists can’t join Sylhet Divisional rally.

General Secretary of Habiganj District Motor Owners Association Shangkha Shuvra Roy said, basically we called the indefinite strike as the administration created a bar in bus plying in Nabiganj. The strike has no connection with politics.
