An HSC candidate was killed allegedly by rivals at Birganj upazila in Dinajpur district on Sunday afternoon over a land dispute.



An HSC candidate was killed allegedly by rivals at Birganj upazila in Dinajpur district on Sunday afternoon over a land dispute.
The incident took place in Bistapara area under Bhognagar union around 2:30 pm.
eceased Akhi Akter, 19, was daughter of Akhtarul Islam. She was scheduled to take part in this year's HSC examination.
Birganj Police Station officer in-charge Subrata Kumar said there had been a dispute between Akhatarul Islam (the victim's father) and his cousin Rokeya Begum over a land.
As a sequel to that, they along with their people were locked into a clash when Rokeya was going to occupy the land, leaving Akhatarul's daughter critically injured.
She was rescued and taken to Dinajpur M Abdur Rahim Medical College Hospital. She succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment there.
Police detained five people--Rashida Begum, Sabina Akter, Shakil Hossain, Mister and Rubel--for interrogation over the incident, the OC added.
