Public sufferings mount on the main road of Kalapara municipality

The main road of Kalapara Municipality is in bad shape.

Patuakhali: Public suffering is at an extreme on the main road of Patuakhali's Kalapara municipality. Traffic on these roads is becoming dangerous due to Kathpatri to Ferighat-Hospital
road, Press club to Thana-AC land road, Palli Bidyut office to Office Mahalla culvert road, Rahmatpur-Bus stand intersection road, high school road, Rahmatpur-Radar road. In particular, there has been a storm of criticism on social media about the Ferighat-Hospital road from Kathpatri. This road is now known as the 'Digital Road' of Kalapara Municipality to the citizens. However, the municipal authorities have no problem with this. Only in meetings and assembly
speeches, they are talking about the plan to build a smart municipality from a digital municipality.
According to sources, on March 1, 1997, Kalapara Municipality started a journey to provide civic services. Consisting of 9 wards, the municipality has an area of 3.75 square kilometers. The current population is about 22 thousand. Voters are about 13,500. In 2009 it was upgraded from third class to second class and in 2015 the municipality got first class status.
There are 26 km of paved roads in the municipal area. And unpaved road 6 km. And there are 16 km of brick roads. Pavement encroachment on narrow municipal roads, rickshaw-auto-hire motorbikes parking here and there, killer vehicles carrying brick-stone-sand of the powerful have
added to the woes of civic movement. Apart from this, rainwater accumulates in the potholes of the road, giving the citizens the feeling of river waves in the movement of vehicles. At times, the
vehicles overturned on the road and the citizens were injured and receiving treatment at the hospital. Some people are hurling obscene abuses at the digital traffic authorities for their own happiness.
Auto driver Kalam Miah said, "From the market to the Feri Ghat intersection road, we reduce the passenger transport. If you drive on this road, you need to repair the car. This problem has been going on for years. Passengers use this road as the digital road of the municipality.
Md. Saiful Islam,  Assistant Engineer of the Municipality, said that Bazar-Ferrighat intersection is 1 km. Road carpeting work has been undertaken at the cost of 92 lakh 94 thousand taka of Kuwait Fund's urban development project. The work will be started once the money is cleared. Apart from this, Office Mahalla-Hospital 758 meter RCC road at a cost of Tk 1 crore 34 lakh and Rahmatpur-Bus stand intersection 1122 meter carpeting road of Covid-19 project at Tk 72 lakh.
Construction has been undertaken at cost. The work of these roads will be started soon.
Md. Humayun Kabir,  Panel Mayor of Kalapara Municipality said that most of the roads in the municipality have been repaired. Now RCC is being done instead of CC. Already 10-12 km RCC road has been constructed. Apart from this, steps have been taken for speedy construction and renovation of all roads. - Gofran Biswas Palash
