Miscreants set fire to water tanker in Bogura

The incident took place on Bogura-Dhaka highway in Betgari area of the upazila at around 11 am.



 On the second day of BNP-Jamaat's 48-hour blockade, a water tanker was torched by some unidentified miscreants in Bogura’s  Shajahanpur upazila on Monday.

Shahidul Islam, Officer-In-Charge (OC) of Shahjahanpur police station, said that the picketers set fire to a water tanker and escaped.

Later, the fire was extinguished with the help of police.

Hafizur Rahman Gazi, the driver of the water tanker, said, “The vehicle of CPCL company was spreading water on the under-construction four-lane highway . We were 3-4 people in the vehicle. Suddenly, 15-20 youths came and asked us to get down from the tanker. Later, they set fire after pouring petrol on it and ran away."

On information, District Superintendent of Police Sudeep Kumara Chakraborty visited the spot.

Meanwhile, hundreds of BNP leaders and activists led by BNP Chairperson's advisor Helaluzzaman Talukder Lalu, staged a sit-in at Banani area of the second bypass highway of the town and observed the blockade programme.

Jamaat leaders and activists also expressed their solidarity and took positions on the Bogura-Rangpur and Bogra-Naogaon highways.
