Jute-laden truck torched in Rajbari

The incident took place at around 2.00am on the Balikandi-Sonapur road in upazila sadar.



Miscreants set fire on a jute-laden truck at Baliakandi upazila in Rajbari district early Wednesday dduring the 6th nationwide 48-hour blockade, called by BNP and likeminded opposition parties to press home their one-point demand.

The incident took place at around 2.00am on the Balikandi-Sonapur road in upazila sadar.

The truck driver Md Jahangir said he was going to Madhukhali upazila of Faridpur district with the loaded truck. On the way, he parked the truck in Ghoramara bridge under Nawabpur union of the upazila where the miscreants set fire to it.

When he noticed that the truck on fire, he lowered the truck into a roadside ditch and informed fire service station, he said.

Being informed, firefighters from Baliakandi Fire Station rushed there and doused the blaze, said Sayed Sarafat Ali, station officer of the fire station.

Baliakandi Police Station officer-in-charge Asaduzzaman said investigation is on to identify the miscreants and legal steps would be taken in this regard.
