Man 'hacked to death' in Bagerhat

A man was hacked to death allegedly by his cousin in a clash over betel nut in Bagerhat's Mollahat upazila on Tuesday morning.

At that time, at least three others were injured in the incident.

The victim was Jamil Sardar, 50, a resident of that area.

Police said the victim Jamil Sardar had a dispute with his cousin Israel. In the morning, when Jamil Sardar inquired about his betel nut, his cousin Israel Sardar and Israel's son Raiz Sardar locked into an argument with Jamil Sardar. At one point, they hacked Jamil Sardar with sharp weapons.

Later, he was rescued but died on the way to hospital.

At that time, two persons of the same area were injured. They have been admitted to Mollahat Upazila Health Complex.

Mollahat Police Station Officer-in-Charge SM Ashraful Alam said legal action will be taken after investigation.
