3 drug peddlers held with 50kg cannabis in Sirajganj



Sirajganj, Apr 08 - Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) have arrested three suspected drug peddlers along with 50 kg of cannabis from Hatikumrul area under Salanga police station of Sirajganj.

The arrestees are Md Swapan Mia, 52, son of Dr. Roshan Ali of Deushpara village of Brahmanpara upazila of Cumilla district, Md Abu Taher, 45, son of late A Malek of Kalpabas village of the same upazila and Mo Ibrahim Mia, 36, son of late Jinu Mia of Ujanisaar village of Brahmanbaria district.

Mohammad Ilyas Khan, company commander of RAB-12, revealed the information in a press release.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of RAB-12, led by Captain Md Maruf Hossain, conducted a drive in the area around 10:30 pm on Sunday and arrested them.

During the drive, RAB members also seized 50.05 kg of cannabis, 1 pickup, 3 mobile phones and Tk4,465  in cash from their possession, reads the release.

A case was filed against them in the concerned police station, it added.-UNB
