SSC examinee goes missing in Meghna River



Munshiganj, May 05 - A 17-year-old boy went missing while taking bath in the Meghna River in Gazaria upazila of Munshiganj on Sunday.

Missing Alif was the only son of Md Faisal Pradhan, a resident of Lakshipura village in Bhaberchar union of the upazila. This year, he took part in the SSC exam from Bhaberchar Landvari School.

Ali Ahmed, the grandfather of the victim, said that Alif did not know how to swim. Alif along with his friends went to the Meghna River bridge around 11am to take a bath.

Witnesses said there was a low tide in the river at that time and Alif was standing near the bank grabbing the GI bag.

Alif drowned while he was trying to go to the second bag with the help of a friend.

Ghazaria Fire Service Station Officer Rifat Mallik said they are conducting the rescue operation.-UNB
