Auto-rickshaw driver stabbed to death in Bagerhat road rage incident

Bagerhat, May 14 - A road rage conflict led to the death of a 25-year-old auto-rickshaw driver in the Amtala area of Morrelganj upazila, Bagerhat district, on Monday night.

The victim, identified as Al Imran Khan, was involved in a minor traffic collision around 8 pm when his battery-operated auto-rickshaw was struck by a rickshaw-van. The altercation escalated when the van’s driver, identified only as Nayeem, reportedly stabbed Imran in a fit of anger.

Following the collision, an argument broke out which tragically led to the stabbing, Mohammad Shamsuddin, the officer-in-charge of Morrelganj Police Station, detailed.

Witnesses at the scene promptly intervened, rushing Imran to Bagerhat District Hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

The assailant fled the scene but was apprehended by police early this morning. Police have arrested Nayeem alias Fahad, 18, and are preparing to file charges, Shamsuddin added.-UNB
