Two sisters drown in Sirajganj pond
Sirajganj, June 02 - Two sisters drowned in a pond in Kohit Tetulia area of Tarash municipal area of Sirajganj on Saturday.
The victims are Yafi Khatun, 8, and Isa Khatun, 5, daughters of Hazrat Ali.
Locals said the two kids were playing in the courtyard of their house Saturday at noon.
In the absence of their family members, the two sisters went to the pond to take a bath next to the house and drowned.
Later their family members, along with local people, searched for them.
In the afternoon, family members rescued them and took them to a local hospital where doctors declared them dead.
A pall of gloom descended on the village over the tragic incident.
Meanwhile, local MP Professor Dr Md Abdul Aziz went to the home of the bereaved family and expressed deep condolences.-UNB
