Patuakhali: The magistrate walked out of the courtroom amid the chaos of the lawyers of BNP after granting bail in the Penal Code and Explosives Act case filed by the Jubo Dal leader on behalf of Awami League leaders and activists in Patuakhali's Kalapara. The incident took place in the courtroom of Senior Judicial Magistrate Ashish Roy of Patuakhali's Kalapara Chowki Court on Thursday (September 5) afternoon. Court Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police Md. Mohibur Rahman confirmed the truth of this incident.

According to sources, several leaders and workers of Awami League surrendered voluntarily to get bail in the case filed by Jubo Dal leader in the court of Senior Judicial Magistrate Ashish Roy of Kalapara Chowki Court on Thursday afternoon. The court granted the bail application of the accused after the hearing of the accused side and the state side. At that time, the judge left the courtroom due to the commotion of the BNP lawyers who participated in the hearing with the state side. This stopped the process of taking evidence in GR cases along with the proceedings of many cases in the police file.

Awami League leader Advocate Mojibur Rahman Chunnu, representative of Patuakhali District Lawyers Association and president of Kalapara Chowki Court Lawyers Welfare Association, said, ‘Although the case is related to explosives law, the court was satisfied and granted bail to those who surrendered today because there were no explosives law charges against them. BNP's lawyer friends started rioting and the court went down.’

Advocate Khandkar Shahab Uddin, lawyer practicing in Chowki Court and legal affairs secretary of Upazila BNP, said, ‘This court cannot grant bail in Explosive Act cases. The country became independent again. Still, as before, he gave bail in this case in the hot connection of the court with some Awami lawyers. We have boycotted the court.’

Advocate Khandkar Nasir Uddin, organizational secretary of Upazila BNP said, ‘We could not get any of our leaders and workers bail from this court in the Explosives Act case. After one-and-a-half months of prison from the High Court, we got conditional bail.’ The same complaint was made by Advocate Shahjahan Parvez, General Secretary of Mahipur Thana BNP. - UNB
