Section 144 imposed in Khagrachhari municipality

KHAGRACHHARI, Sept 20 - The district administration today slapped section 144 in Khagrachhari municipality area from 2pm to 9pm due to deterioration of law and order situation arising from a conflict.

At least three people were killed and 20 others were injured in the clash -- in Dighinala and various places in the district throughout the last night -- that ensued following beating of a young man named Mamun.

The deceased were identified as Dhananjay Chakma, 50, resident of Dighinala,  Rubel Tripura,25, and Junan Chakma,20. All of them are residents of Khagrachhari Sadar upazila.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md Sahiduzzaman confirmed the matter to the journalists.  He said the local administration has taken necessary measures to prevent any kind of violence.

A notification signed by Sujan Chandra Roy, Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer and Executive Magistrate of Khagrachhari said, "I have imposed restrictions under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code of 1898 to deal with the situation of emergency and law and order." - BSS News
