At least eleven people were injured in a violent clash between two factions of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) over the organization of Iftar gatherings in the Char area of Enayetpur Thana, Sirajganj, on Tuesday.

According to Rawshan Yazdani, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Enayetpur Police Station, the conflict erupted when Rawshan Ali, former organizing secretary and a Union Parishad member of Sadia Chandpur BNP, arranged an Iftar gathering at Corona Bazar. Simultaneously, Karim Mollah, former president of Ward-2 BNP, organized a separate Iftar at the Chandpur Government Primary School ground in the same vicinity.

The proximity of the two events fueled tensions, leading to a dispute. Supporters of Rawshan Ali reportedly attempted to disrupt Karim Mollah's gathering, sparking a physical altercation between the two groups. The clash quickly escalated into a violent chase, with both sides exchanging blows and leaving eleven people injured.

Upon receiving a report, the police arrived at the scene and successfully restored order. However, no formal complaints have been filed by either faction, stated the OC. Additional police forces have been deployed in the area to prevent further unrest.

Leaders from both factions have accused each other of inciting the violence. The police have warned that legal action will be taken should any written complaints be submitted.
