Police discovered the bodies of a woman and her son hanging from a tree in Nalchity upazila, Jhalakathi district, on Sunday morning.

The victims were identified as Rubi Begum, 50, wife of Hanif Majhi, and her son Asad, 35, both residents of Rayapur village in the upazila.

Local residents reported the sighting of the two hanging from a single rope, prompting authorities to respond. Upon arrival, police recovered the bodies and sent them to the Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsies, according to Abdus Salam, officer-in-charge of Nalchity Police Station.

The cause of death remains unclear, and an investigation is underway. “We will take necessary actions as the investigation progresses,” the OC stated.
