Two held with 1,320 Yaba tablets in stomachs in Dhaka

The Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police has arrested two alleged drug peddlers along with 1,320 Yaba tablets in their stomachs in the Shahbagh area of the capital.


The arrestees were identified as Md Hasan, 40, and Ekhlas Mia, 65.

Tipped off that some drug dealers were staying in the Doel Chattar area under Shahbagh Police Station carrying Yaba tablets inside their stomachs, members of the CTTC Special Action Group raided the area around 7:00pm on Thursday and arrested them.

Later, the suspects were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where 1,320 Yaba tablets were recovered from inside their stomachs.

During initial interrogation, police said, the arrested individuals admitted that they had been bringing Yaba tablets from the border district of Cox’s Bazar to Dhaka and selling them for long, reports UNB.
