Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized 106,000 Yaba tablets worth an estimated Tk 3.28 crore from a private car and arrested its driver during a drive at the Whykong Checkpost in Ukhiya upazila of Cox's Bazar.

The Commanding Officer of Ukhiya Battalion (64 BGB) confirmed the seizure in a press release issued today.

According to the release, a BGB patrol signalled a private car travelling from Teknaf to Cox's Bazar to stop at the Whykong Checkpost at around 10:00 pm on Monday. During a search of the vehicle, the patrol recovered 106,000 Yaba tablets packed in 16 packets wrapped in black polythene and concealed inside the front bumper of the car.

The BGB also seized the private car used for trafficking and a mobile phone.

The arrested driver was identified as Md Saiful Islam Khokon, 36, son of Mohammad Ismail of the Paranipara PM Khali area under Cox's Bazar Sadar upazila, reports BSS.

During preliminary interrogation, the accused confessed that he had collected the Yaba tablets from Teknaf and was transporting them to Cox's Bazar for sale at a higher price, the release said.

Legal action has been initiated in connection with the incident, the release added.
