Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members recovered Indian contraband drugs worth Tk 12.12 lakh in a special operation in Kushtia early Friday.

Acting on specific intelligence, a patrol team of Kushtia Battalion (47 BGB) conducted the operation around 3:00am in Kazipur Border Para field under the jurisdiction of Kazipur Border Outpost (BOP).

The team recovered eight bottles of Indian liquor and 4,000 cyproheptadine tablets in an abandoned state, according to a press release.

The process of handing the drugs over to Gangni Police Station in Meherpur district is underway in accordance with the law, it said.

The battalion said it has strengthened intelligence activities and has been conducting special operations to prevent drug smuggling in the border areas, reports UNB.
