BGB seizes drugs worth Tk 13.5cr in Cox’s Bazar

Cox’s Bazar, Oct 8 -- Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) on Saturday claimed to have seized banned drugs worth nearly Tk 13.5 crore in Cox’s Bazar’s Teknaf upazila. 

Tipped off, a patrol team of BGB intercepted a boat carrying two suspected smugglers in

the Kharangkhali area of Teknaf upazila at 1.40am while the duo was heading towards the Beribadh area after crossing the Naf river, said Lt Col Sheikh Khalid Md Iftekhar, Commander of BGB’s Teknaf battalion. 

The two suspected smugglers escaped but the BGB men seized a bag containing 2.120 kgs of crystal meth and 30,000 Yaba tablets worth Tk 11.50 crore, he said. 

Meanwhile, a team of BGB-2 in another drive seized 50,000 pieces of Yaba and a battery-run three-wheeler at Hwaikong in Teknaf upazila at 5.10am. 

The market value of the seized items is Tk 1.51 crore. However, no one was detained in connection with the haul. - UNB
