Legendary journalist About Rabin.

Legendary journalist Abdur Rahim passed away while undergoing treatment for old age complications on Saturday 27 January 2024 at the Evercare Hospital in Dhaka. He was 88. The illustrious life of a simple and yet powerful journalist has thus come to an end.
I am deeply saddened at his death. He had tremendous treasure of love and affection for me. He used to write for The New Nation when I was its editor. A patriot and an honest man, he was a journalist in the truest sense of the term. An ever smiling man, he was humorous, easy going simple but sharp in his expression. He used to seek contributions from me for The Envoy that he edited for a number of years. I was included in a literary organisation "Shahitya Bangladesh" that he headed until the time he remained active in the profession.
He was a former principal information officer and a former executive editor of the now defunct The Bangladesh Observer newspaper. He is survived by his three sons and a host of relatives and friends.
His namaz-e-janaza will be held at the National Press Club at 11am on Tuesday.
He will be buried at Banani graveyard after second namaz-e-janaza at Gulshan Azad Mosque after Zohr prayers.
Abdur Rahim was born on July 25, 1936 at village Joykrishnapur in Noakhali district. He worked in different media including the now defunct The Bangladesh Observer. The Envoy and Daily Millat. He was the Bangladesh Representative to the United Nations in 1980 and the Minister of Press at the Bangladesh High Commission in London. He was a part-time teacher in the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism at Dhaka University. His notable publications are Nishacharer Nishidin, Suprabhat Bangladesh and Zuddhaporadhir Jabanbandhi.
May Allah Almighty grant him heavenly life.
