By-polls to Faridpur-2 constituency on Nov 5

The by-election to Faridpur-2 constituency that fell vacant after the death of Awami League presidium member Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury will be held on November 5 this year.

The Election Commission (EC) announced the by-polls schedule date today. Voting will take place using Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) from 8am to 4pm.

According to the EC, last date for nomination paper submission is October 10 and nomination papers will be scrutinized on October 12. Last date for withdrawal of nomination papers is October 19.

Appeal can be filed against decision of nomination paper scrutiny from October 13 to 15 and such appeals will be settled from October 16 to 18. 

The Parliament Secretariat issued a notification declaring the seat vacant on September 11. 

Sayeda Sajeda Chowdhry, deputy leader of the House, breathed her last on September 11 at the age of 87.

The Parliament Secretariat later declared the Faridpur-2 seat vacant on Sept 13, reports BSS.
