Dhaka, Nov 2 - British High Commissioner to Dhaka Sarah Cooke on Thursday urged all stakeholders to work together to create atmospheres for "free, fair and participatory" polls avoiding violence.

She made the call during a meeting with BNP leaders, led by its standing committee member Dr Abul Moyeen Khan.

“British High Commissioner Sarah Cooke met BNP leaders to discuss the prevailing political situation,” the High Commission said in a message on its verified Facebook page.

"The UK calls on all stakeholders to exercise restraint, eschew violence, and work together to create the conditions for free, fair, participatory, and peaceful elections,” the message reads.

Earlier on Wednesday, Sarah Cooke met Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan and discussed bilateral issues apart from upcoming elections.

During the meeting, she reiterated the UK’s deep concern over the violence and loss of life seen on October 28. - UNB
