EC approves transfers of 338 OCs, 158 UNOs

The Election Commission today approved the transfers of 338 officers-in-charge (OCs) of different police stations and 158 upazila nirbahi officers (UNOs) of different upazilas in a bid to hold the January 7 general election in a free and fair manner.

"The EC gave approval to the transfer lists of OCs and UNOs given by the Public Administration Ministry," said EC Secretariat Additional Secretary Ashok Kumar Debnath.

Earlier, on December 4, the EC approved a Public Administration Ministry proposal for transferring 47 UNOs, he said.

On November 30, the EC asked the Home Affairs Ministry and the Public Administration Ministry to transfer the OCs and UNOs across the country.

As per the EC's directives, the Public Administration Ministry sent proposal to the to transfer the UNOs who served for over a year at their respective stations while the Home Ministry proposed to transfer the OCs who served for over six months at their respective police stations, reports BSS.
