National Elections Set for Late 2025 or Early 2026: EC Masud

Election Commissioner Abdur Rahmanel Masud has confirmed that the national parliamentary elections will take place either at the end of this year or at the start of 2026.


Masud made the announcement during a meeting with district and upazila election officials today. He emphasized that the current Election Commission is fully focused on ensuring a free, fair, transparent, and credible election. "We are working tirelessly to guarantee the elections meet the highest standards," he said.

He also highlighted ongoing efforts to update the voter list, with 35,000 data collectors working across the country to complete the task.

Masud called on election officials to perform their duties with the utmost responsibility and sought cooperation from all stakeholders to ensure the accuracy of the voter list.

The meeting was chaired by Senior Election Officer Khan Shahanur Khan.
